General Types of Pipe Granules
Polyethylene nowadays is one of the most important raw materials in the construction of water, sewage, gas and industrial pipes .
Due to Polyethylene unique properties such as corrosion resistance, light weight, considerable flexibility and excellent hydraulic properties, this material is now available as a cost-effective and reliable solution for many pipeline applications.
The polyethylene material used to make pipe granules is quite different from the type of polyethylene material used to make other polyethylene products .
General Types of Pipe Granules
Pipe granules or polyethylene pipes are black pipes used with blue lines (for water supply), yellow lines for (gas supply) and brown lines (for sewage). When partitioned, they are usually divided into three categories: single-walled pipes (abbreviated as polyethylene pipes), double-walled pipes (known as corrugated pipes), and spiral pipes .
1. Single wall pipe granules
These pipes are divided into several sections with different applications :
– Black polyethylene (PE) pipe 100
– Blue polyethylene pipe 100
– Orange polyethylene pipe 100
– Polyethylene pipe E.3490-LS
– Polyethylene pipe P6006
– Black NPP polyethylene pipe
2. Double-walled pipe granules
This model is used for the transfer of wastewater and fluids without internal pressure. Polyethylene double-walled pipe is often referred to as corrugated pipe, the production technology of which is the same as single-walled pipe and the only difference is in the form of extrusion .
3. Spiral
It is the same type of corrugated but the production method is somewhat different in that they typically range in size from 800 to 3000 mm .
Types of Pipe Granules Based on Density
Polyethylene pipes are divided into three main groups based on the density of materials used :
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Pipe
The density of this type of polyethylene pipe is 0.941 grams per cubic centimeter or more and its natural color is white. Features of this model include the following: HDPE features make this type of pipe very suitable for water transfer systems and pressure systems. HDPE is harder and stronger than LDPE and therefore can withstand water pressure better .
Medium Density Polyethylene Pipe (MDPE)
The density of materials in this type of polyethylene pipe is between 0.926 to 0.940 g / cm3 and its natural color is blue. MDPE is the least used among all types of polyethylene pipes .
Low density polyethylene pipe (LDPE)
The density of materials in this type of polyethylene pipe is less than 0.926 grams per cubic centimeter. The most common use of LDPE polyethylene pipes is in drip irrigation systems .
Production of Pipe Granules
Pipe granule is one of the most widely used pipes in the world, one of the most widely used types is high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in HDPE100 and HDPE80 grades. This type of pipe is produced by Arak, Amirkibar, Maroon, Jam and Ilam petrochemicals .
Maroon Petrochemical has produced this pipe as a gas supply pipe with a pressure tolerance of 100 bar, which can be used EX-3 grade instead of PE100, PE80. In Ilam Petrochemical, EX-3 grade only replaces PE80 and in Amirkabir Petrochemical, EX-3 is used as an alternative to PE100, PE80 .
In Arak Petrochemical, the PE100 grade polyethylene pipe is black and can withstand up to 100 bar pressures in gas pipes. Finally, Jam is made of black CRP-100 polyethylene pipe, which is a thermoplastic polyethylene polymer, in the pipe. Uses high pressure water and gas .
